Naoko Matsumoto

Naoko Matsumoto received her D.Litt. in 1998 from Kyushu University.

Her research interests include the transition from the Jomon hunter-gatherers to the following Yayoi agricultural societies in Japanese Archipelago, the factors related to inter-group violence, and the construction of interdisciplinary research frameworks for cognitive and gender archaeology.

She has conducted excavations at several Jomon and Yayoi sites in Kyushu and Chugoku district in western Japan.

In BE-ARCHAEO Professor Matsumoto will manage interactions between European participants and Japanese partners across various fields.
