Akira Seike

Professor of Archaeology at the Graduate School of Humanities and Social Sciences

Section Leader of the Center for Research on the Dynamics of Civilizations

 

Akira Seike received his D.Litt. from Osaka University.

He has worked successively as a staff of the Board of Education at Toyonaka City, assistant professor of archaeology at Osaka University and professor of archaeology at Kochi University before the present position.

His research interests include kinship structure, gender and social stratification in the Kofun period Japan.

He has actively excavated many Kofun mounded tombs.

In BE-ARCHAEO, Professor Seike will manage the excavation of the Tobiotsuka Kofun in Soja city, Okayama Prefecture, and provide specialized knowledge about social dynamics in the Kofun period Japan
